Luke 19:30–34 CSB
30 and said, “Go into the village ahead of you. As you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, on which no one has ever sat. Untie it and bring it. 31 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ say this: ‘The Lord needs it.’ ” 32 So those who were sent left and found it just as he had told them. 33 As they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?” 34 “The Lord needs it,” they said.

Palm Sunday

Today, we commemorate Palm Sunday a beginning of Holy Week for Christians and will end with the celebration of Easter. Palm Sunday comes from a story in which Jesus entered the City of Jerusalem on a young(Colt) donkey, affirming His Messianic royalty. He boldly role into Jerusalem as the King of Peace.

The Crowd

The crowd was super-excited that Jesus was coming to their city to celebrate a big religious festival (the Passover). In their excitement without a parade planning committee, the people grabbed palm branches to wave and spread their clothes on the road as a sign of honor to Jesus. The parade broke into song from Palm 118 “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord. Peace in heaven and glory in the highest heaven!”

Reminder

As we commemorate this Palm Sunday a time of joy and excitement let us be mindful of superficial or shallow relationship with the Lord Jesus. We sing the songs, dance the dance but when trouble come we run. The same people who were filled with excitement about Jesus coming and paraded the street of Jerusalem few minutes later will bow to political, and religious pressure and the celebration ends in rejection, desertion, and death on the lonely cross.

Jesus the Messiah

Jesus publicly presented himself as the fulfilment of the prophecy of Zachariah 9:9. The gospel writer of Matt.21 tells his readers that Jesus fulfills what was spoken through the prophet: “Tell Daughter Zion, “See, your King is coming to you, gentle, and mounted on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.” - A sign of Peace.
Jesus entered Jerusalem as the King of Peace, He died as King of Peace, He rose as King of Peace and lived today as “THE KING OF PEACE.”

Jesus Knowledge

- Jesus demonstrated to His disciples that he knew what was going to happen to him. Jesus has complete knowledge about who we are, our circumstances that tie us down, our doubts and fears. Yet He saddled the young donkey and role into Jerusalem for the redemption of humility. We can draw strength and courage as we experience life’s difficulties that our Lord Jesus knows all of us. God will Come Right, To You To Help You Get Right With HIM.

Jesus, The Master Over Creation

-Jesus demonstrated his awesome power not just over demons or clean spirits, sicknesses, and diseases but as Lord and Master over creation by riding into Jerusalem on an “Unbroken” colt (No One Has Ever Sat.)
-This young inexperience colt was tied, restrain to fulfilled its divine purpose. (Carried its Master, the Lord Jesus into Jerusalem)
-The young donkey was loose from its bondage/chains because “The Lord Needed It” was purposefully untied for the Will of God.
We are set free/untied from sin, and death, and living for ourselves to be used for Christ. This young colt participated in the biggest parade of its young life-centered stage walking in FREEDOM with Jesus Christ on its back guarding its way.
Kingdom Parade- if you and I want to participate in the biggest Kingdom parade (Eternity) with the Lord Jesus we must be tied to Christ and the Word of God today- use our freedom in Christ for righteousness and not to our every desire and wish.
What untied this young donkey- was not the goodwill of the owners, friends, religious leaders, or a government law. But the Word of God obediently carried out by two disciples of Jesus without any consideration for the personal safety of taking someone else’s donkey because “The Lord Needs It.”
Finally, Jesus himself the one who was anointed to bring good news to the poor to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and freedom to the prisoners was tied (Then the company of soldiers, the commander, and the Jewish officials arrested Jesus and tied him up.-John 18:12 ) by Jewish officials and soldiers and restrained on the cross of carvery for your salvation and Freedom.
Closing:
As God needed a small and unimportant donkey compared to the majesty and beauty of a horse,- you and I are more valuable to God than a colt and God has need of every one of us for His unique purpose. So let’s go all out obeying the Word of God to untied/lose those who are bond and tie those things that are loose.
Matthew 16:19 Jesus says: “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will have been lose in heaven.”
We have the Keys to lose and tie.
